Download

To open the PDF documents, you will need a PDF reader. You can download this program for free from the following page:

https://acrobat.adobe.com/uk/en/acrobat/pdf-reader.html

Not all of the documents available to download are accessible. Many are old documents of which the original is no longer available. These documents are not revised retroactively.

It is our goal to offer as many accessible PDF files as possible in the future, or to upload the contents in an HTML format.

Whether a document is accessible is indicated by the fact that the download is tagged with ‘File is accessible’.

Should you require content from older documents in a form accessible to you, please contact us via the Contact form. We will try to provide you with the content in a different format as far as possible.

Navigation

The pages are uniformly structured; navigation and content are divided into separate sections.

There are hidden jump marks at the very top of the pages with which you can jump directly to the content, the main menu or the search engine.

In addition, the Table of contents provides an overview of the topics and sub-topics offered.

Font size

You can change the font size of our websites via your browser. In Internet Explorer, this can be done by clicking ‘View’ in the menu bar followed by ‘Font’. In Firefox, change the font size by clicking ‘View’ in the menu bar, then ‘Font Size’ followed by either ‘Zoom In’ or ‘Zoom Out’.

Audio and video files

If playback of the files does not work, or if the subtitles are not displayed correctly, you can find further guidance here:

http://www.stero.de/multimedia_hilfe.htm

If you are using an older browser, you will need an updated Flash plug-in (Version 8 or later) to play the embedded videos on this page. You can download this program for free via the following link:

Search

We offer two search functions on our pages: simple search and advanced search.

You can find the search function at the top right of the header above the main navigation. Click on the magnifying glass and enter one or more terms in the "Search" field. The search results are displayed in a new window.

Subsequently, the advanced search function offers additional search or sorting options:

  • Sorting the search results by title or by date
  • Restricting the search result

    • to a particular document type, e.g. you can search for publications, dates or simply for texts
    • to your user group
    • to a given focus topic
    • to the year of publication or a period

By default, results are displayed containing all search terms entered. Using the word OR between the search terms expands the search to include hits that contain only a part of the search terms. Furthermore, it is possible to use wildcards such as (*)for any character string and (?) for a single character in the search. The tilde symbol (~) at the end of an individual word enables a fuzzy match search.

Print

The contents of the websites are optimised for printing.

If JavaScript is enabled, there is a ‘Print Page’ button at the bottom of the page. Clicking on this button opens the print dialogue in a new window. If JavaScript is deactivated, you can access this dialogue by clicking ‘File’ in the menu bar, then ‘Print’ (or by using the <Ctrl>+<P> key combination).

Accessibility

A great effort was made to configure this website according to the conditions of the Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (BITV) so that all people, including people with physical limitations, find it easy to use. In a test evaluating accessibility, the German Emissions Trading Authority scored 95.75 out of 100 points. You can view DEHSt’s detailed results by clicking on the "BIK 95+" orange logo at the bottom of the page.

Nevertheless, should you encounter any difficulties on our pages, please send us a message via the Contact form with a description of where you have encountered the error.

What does accessibility mean on the internet?

People with disabilities often depend on different aids when using a computer or the internet. These may be individual computer settings (e.g. large fonts), special software products (such as screen readers), or supporting technologies (e.g. Braille). In order for websites to be accessible for the different aid tools, they must meet certain requirements – they must be "barrier-free". Websites are accessible if they can be accessed by disabled persons without particular difficulty and without any external help. To this end, they have to fulfil certain technical, design and editorial requirements so that they can be accessed without difficulties by the visually impaired or people who can only use the keyboard or an eyetracker system.
