Downloading Files
To open the PDF documents provided, you need a PDF Reader which can be downloaded free of charge from the following site:
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Not all documents for download are in accessible format because many of them are old documents and the original is no longer available. Those documents will not be re-formatted.
Our aim is to provide accessible PDF files and/or use HTML format wherever possible.
An icon before the document indicates whether a document is accessible or not.
Those files that are not in accessible format are signposted with two arrows pointing to the right.
The icon for accessible documents is an arrow pointing to the right with a plus sign.
If you need content from older documents in an accessible form, please get in touch with us using the contact form. We will make an effort to make the contents available to you if at all possible.
Navigation Options
The pages have been built on the same principle. Navigation and contents have been separated.
There are hidden anchors at the top of each page that direct you to contents, main menu or search.
There is also a site map that gives an overview of all topics.
Font Size
You can change the font size in your browser. In the Internet Explorer toolbar, choose 'Page' in the browser menu, then 'zoom'. In Firefox, go to 'View', 'zoom' 'zoom in/out'.
Audio/Video Files
If you have problems watching or listening to video/audio files, you can get further help here (in German only)
http://www.stero.de/multimedia_hilfe.htm
To watch the videos embedded in this page, you need a Flash plugin, version 8 or higher for your browser. You can download it for free from
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Search
Two search functions are available on this page:
Simple Search and Advanced Search.
You will find the simple search in the top right corner below the service navigation. You can enter one or more terms into the "search" field. The search results are displayed in a new window.
Advanced Search gives you the following search and sorting options:
- Sorting search results according to relevance or date
Restriction of search results
- to a defined period
- to a certain type of document. You could search for people or standard articles
Entering several search terms connected with a plus (+) sign will focus your search (AND operation).
Wildcards (*) for any letter sequence and (?) for a single letter may be used.
The tilde symbol (~) at the end of an individual word supports fuzzy search.
Print Function
The contents of the website have been optimised for printing.
If you have JavaScript activated, you will see a button saying "Print page". Clicking on it will open a new window with a print dialogue box..
If JavaScript is deactivated, you can access the dialogue box via 'File', menu item 'print' (or by using the keyboard shortcut <Ctrl>+ <P>).
Access Keys
For quick navigation of the website, shortcuts known as access keys are available. These will be activated and take you to the relevant topic when pressing the return key. Different browsers use different key combinations. Most browsers use the Alt key with the relevant number but there are some specifics:
- Firefox: Alt + Shift + relevant number
- Internet Explorer: Alt + relevant number + Enter
- Safari: Ctrl + relevant number
- Opera: Shift + Esc + relevant number
Here are the navigation shortcuts:
- 0 - Home page
- 1 - Help
- 2 - Glossary
- 3 - Contact Form
- 4 - Table of Contents
- 5 - Search
- 6 - Masthead
